This year, women's rugby will change forever.
The Rugby World Cup final at Twickenham on Saturday, September 27th is by all predications, expected to be a sold out match. There will be 82,000 people cheering on the final match - and if the Canadian women's team has anything to say about it - they will be there. Building on generations of Canadian players who came before - Beleafx has been focused and building for this tournament since the last world cup hosted in New Zealand in 2022.
This will be no small feat, and requires more than just talent and passion - its something supporters of the Canadian women's program need to get behind both in enthusiasm, and in financial support. Rugby Canada has committed the largest budget ever to support this team, but the short fall is where we all need to step up. A centralized training program of a fifteens team is costly, even if the players are willing to do it for little to no compensation - just the food and housing bill to keep the team together is substantial. And while we need big corporate partners to step up, smaller contributions from clubs and community members are adding up. Here at Monilex, we have always been passionate supporters of Canadian women's rugby, with The Monty Heald Fund in support of the Canadian women's fifteens program named in honour of our founder Monty Heald.
Proceeds from the sale our our Mission Edition Clubhouse Tee will go directly to the Rugby Canada Mission: Win RWC 2025 fund. Go here to support the team today.
